Wait he's an ATF Agent and he has to go through the same process? Can't he just call up the processing people and be all like "yo it's Bill down in Dallas, can you hook me up?" and they'd be all like "aight bro hold just one sec" and then send him a tax stamp?

Nope we all have to go through the same process. I'm a federal agent as well. It sucks i just went through my 5 year investigation too. You would think how everything is on file they would just use that it would save time too but again that makes too much sense.
I wish they would change the nfa tax stamp shit getting rid of it would be great but if they were that hard on for it then change it so that instead of going through the process every time you buy something nfa. Do a one time stamp good for whatever you want and an annual background check every 5 years or so like the annual background check we go through as federal agents.

    How's that work?

Thread drift a little, but I agree with BPA164- once you go through the background for one stamp, why do the next ones take so long?! I wouldn't even bitch about the price if they just went "oh another Form 4 from sandsunsurf, let's run NICS and send it back today." That's seriously all they need to do, and probably all that they do do. And if it's a trust, it's even simpler, as NICS is checked when delivered to the person on the 4473.

If we went with a "one and done" system for stamps, especially with having to go through a background check every five years to maintain it, it would become exactly what we don't want- a federally controlled privilege that can be revoked by the .gov if you don't meet the "recently tightened for your safety" requirements of the five year check.

If we really want a "one and done" system for shooters with chronic Tax Stamp Disorder, we should push for an FFL category to cover transferable machineguns, suppressors, SBRs, SBSs and AOWs as an alternative to having to apply for individual tax stamps. Sort of a "C&R" FFL for NFA. Those who only want a couple of NFA items could still use the current stamp system. Those with TSD could apply for the Limited NFA FFL

Ok, I have my money for an MP7, MP5a3, 416, and SCAR-16 CQC, however I feel like this emotional rollarcoaster is going to run out of track just when it gets to the good part.

Same. I'd probably kill my credit card to get a legit 416 and MP7.

Say we can purchase FA guns now...it's my take that we will be able to purchase newly manufactured firearms.

Thus the price should be relatively cheap compared to the pre 84 stuff rather than $30000 we are talking $3000

Which I would gladly max out my CC for a FA .22

Nothing is anywhere near certain, and it has never been when you think the ATF means, it means what they think it means and also what they want it to mean and is intended to mean.
