Ass Clowns pretending to be Cops. What do you do????

There are plenty of videos and threads on here about our LEO brothers. Some favorable and some not so much. I'll be the first to admit that they have a damn tough job. Their job just got tougher thanks to ass clowns like this. It is hard enough to get people to pull over. Now you have to wonder if the car behind you flashing the red and blue is legit.

I'll never understand why some LE get so unhinged at the idea of those being pulled over taking some safety precautions. If it's an unmarked car, I'll be confirming with dispatch while I drive with my hazards on to a public location. Particularly at night, unless it's one of those obvious "ah...shit" moments.

You know, when you're bumping along and see that you just passed a cruiser going 10 over? Then it's pretty likely that cruiser is the one pulling me over.

Something about being pulled over with blinding lights, my back turned, and not being in a situation to make any defensive movements on my own....I'll pass.

The woman in that car though...who just gets out of a vehicle when they get pulled over? And why didn't the driver pursue the kids and call in make/model/plates.

    Lol at recording it.

If unsure ask for supervisor and call 911 to confirm.

Most states have rules against unmarked/plain clothed vehicle investigation.

Yep, as annoying as a potential butt hurt powertripping LEO could be it's much less of a hassle than being robbed/killed/assaulted/etc. One thing that drives me nuts here is that unmarked can pull you over for traffic infractions.

I understand that on one hand LEOs don't want a big marked cruiser that everyone can see running radar, but if it's at night and you're pulling me over in a Red Taurus I'll be calling 911 to confirm.

Yup. A lot of people train all day for their SHTF fantasy. They sink money into their firefight scenario when a bad guy comes in the force his genitals on their new blender. Then they see red and blue in the rear view and pull over, completely complacent, worried only about the cost of the ticket. I'll pass on all that, it's gone wrong way too many times for me to hope it's ok. With the infrequency in me being pulled over, I either know I did something wrong or I don't. Being a little careful has gotten me some of the "who the hell do you think you is, boy?" lectures. But it hasn't gotten me shot in the back of the head so I got that going for me.

I disagree with your last point though. Unmarked cars are nothing productive in the name of traffic enforcement. If their obvious presence is enough to make people drive carefully, then it's a success. If the goal is to catch people who don't think you're there, then the intent must be revenue and public safety no longer a concern. If an unmarked cruiser sees something obvious and overtly dangerous, like driving south on a northbound interstate, sure I can see getting involved. If not, the most safe thing to do would be to leave traffic enforcement as well as any public interaction roles to uniformed and clearly marked patrol units.

The only use I could really support for an unmarked unit would be parole officers. Unmarked vehicle would give them a chance to get to the parolee's house in the kind if neighborhoods where marked units create a ruckus. Or for observation of a warrant subject, in an attempt to detain him outside of the home and avoiding a "Dynamic" entry.

Not sure about yalls AO but here in Houston the old police vehicles seem to get sold to the public. Every week I see multiple crown vics with black wheels, they even leave the spot light on but non working. They look very much like an unmarked until you see who it driving it and take a look at the bumpers. The bumpers always seem to be cracked and mangled. Whats funny is it usually ends up being some home boy with his seat leaned way back and shades on.

Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen"

Police auctions. Outdated models or ones (I believe) that have reached the end of the line for repairs per policy.

Friend had one in high school, fire investigator car but every bit a cruiser. The PA system and spotlight worked fine, the low pro lights were removed though. Not bad for a cheap car, and I mean cheap. And unlike most used cars you knew it had been maintained even a little bit, and since they were trying to recoup losses there was no price gouging.

I did notice a lot of the ghetto areas in California were full of old cop model impalas from before the changeover. Ironic.

Never seen a State Trooper up here that isn't built like Arnold. It's very obvious who's actually a cop and who's not when they're making an approach. I've had this scenario in my head a few times, but I've only ever been pulled over by clearly marked cars.

There's a Glock 21 with a X300 on it very easily within reach but completely out of sight in my car at all times. I could not draw my carry 19 quickly/effectively in a vehicle.

I usually have a radio that can monitor local/county/state PD comms in my car too. 90% of the state's frequencies are preprogrammed in it.... I've heard them call up every time before the approach with location and plate number/vehicle description. I'd be pretty shocked and dial 911 if I didn't hear any traffic.

But at that point you're already stopped with your windows down and he's walking up to the car. Now you risk fleeing and eluding if you take off or a gunshot if you wait.

If he's not a cop he's getting the light and Glock in the face. This may sound like the "wrong" answer but it's what I'd do. Either that or book it. My car goes pretty quick.

There's a ton of little telltale things actual LEOs will do during a stop which may seem second nature to them but if you're looking, will provide a large amount of tells. Even the most complacent, fat, hillbilly deputy is going to square up, and have certian body language when on his approach. Some dude who's doing this as a prank or to rob someone is likely going to be somewhat nervous.

Alternatively, I'd rather go to court over "evading" if I had serious doubts about the legitimacy of the guy approaching my vehicle. I'd hopefully be articulate enough to explain why I did it as opposed to being some retarded gangbanger with "**** da police".

    Situation dictates.
