    Nuclear Detonation Video.

For some reason I have always been fascinated by nukes and the testing. Some of the under ground dets are pretty intense.
    I paint spaceship parts.

Wicked power. I wonder if the above ground equipment became contaminated.

You should watch a movie called Trinity and Beyond. It is on Netflix instant right now.

It is one of my favorite films. Absolutely facinating. Especially the ones with space detonations, miniature suns.

I've watched it many times, I love it. My physics teacher in 10th grade showed it in class and I was hooked.

Interesting video J, now I know where that "Nuke Town" place was derived from when I played zombies with my son countless times.

Of course the fact that one day these same weapons that fascinate us may also incinerate us is a concern, but for now we appreciate the high-speed images capturing some of the otherwise unseen brilliant spectacle.

Still one wonders what the practical purposes are for so many underground detonations. Is it to minimize contamination of the region or are the world's armies planning to detonate such warheads under their enemies cities? Figure the prior of course and suppose that a great many sensors are in place in the underground caverns to measure likely effectiveness above ground.

Wasn't that the fallout of the limited test ban treaty of sorts which made atmospheric testing prohibited? I recall we weren't doing the south pacific any favors at the time given the frequency of shots.

Exactly. After the Castle Bravo detonation, which exceeded expected yield by 250%, the fallout landed on the inhabited areas of the Bikini Atoll, and the Nevada test Harry aka Dirty Harry which sent it's fall out through Southern Utah and Nevada, awareness was made on the effects of atmospheric testing. Not to mention the 60 MT monster that Soviets dropped there was concern about the rising amount of fall out. I think 1963 was when the ban went into effect.

I have it on my list on Netflix and when my wife can't decide what she wants to watch when it is her turn to pick, I default to Trinity. She has seen it enough that she usually will decide but sometimes I get to watch it again.

First thing I thought of. Absolutely fascinating to me.
