Keymod will NEVER be adopted by the military, and as such, I think it will go the way of the dodo.
I remember people saying similar about the mid-length gas system.

There will always be a market for lightweight tubes, even if the mil doesn't adopt them. 10 years down the road, something better might be invented, and that is the only way I can see the keymod and Mlok fading away.

Many folks CSASS candidates use KeyMod.

If CSASS goes forward, I would guess that a KM rail system will be on the winner, and KM will begin to be introduced into the Military.

Generally most changes happen at the sniper weapons level first (less weapons, smarter folks) so any possible issues would be solved prior to mass adoption.

I ran a KeyMod equipped SR-25 at a recent Accuracy First class - and really came all the way over to KeyMod.

We took the damned 14.5 ELW out to 1050 yards. You can throw a Nightforce onto a MOA capable KM gun and have a very light and compact 700+ yard realistic effective range gun in my opinion.

KM won't go away by any means. Its most likely that it won't be adopted by the military on a large scale anytime soon (not even in this decade), but smaller units may adopt it based on their mission parameters.

If anything KM will just continue to become more popular in the civvy market. Then you'd see gunshow chinese copies of KM handguards...
