I just received my B5 Systems polymer keymod forearm. The O.D. is really small. This is exactly what I was looking for on my k.i.s.s. patrol rifle.

I guess Wilson paid them more to put their rifle on the cover. Funny thing was, in a later article the same editor who reviewed the Wilson ended up dogging any modular handguard that relied on threads with or without the use of backer plates.
If anyone wants a brief rundown of what the Keymod article said I'll post the Cliff Notes.
Basically every editor at Guns and Ammo thinks its a better design over picatinny and offers more pros than con's. They also believe Keymod will not replace the military standard 1913 picatinny any time soon on a massive scale. The government has purchased millions of picatinny quad rails and they need to get their moneys worth out of them. Keymod has made and will make its way in to the smaller special units as its in the final phase of testing which happens to be field testing.
If the military were to decide on Keymod for the masses and they made the decision tomorrow, it would take another 5 years before every M4 was outfitted with a Keymod hand guard and Keymod accessories.

This issue of Guns and Ammo also had a very good article/review on BCM's new RECCE ELW KMR.
They thought it was the best designed light weight barrel to date and that it made perfect sense. They purposefully heated the barrel up and it still shot 1.2 in groups.
The editor also gave some props to Kinsel and how smart he was when it came to developing. He explained why they chose a steel barrel nut rather than one made from aluminum. He also explained barrel harmonics and why the size and length of each taper on the ELW was chosen.
The editors conclusion was that BCM's new ELW KMR rifles are some of the best rifles money can buy and predicted that they will sell a ton of them.

Keymod will NEVER be adopted by the military, and as such, I think it will go the way of the dodo. It is the superior mounting interface, but that won't matter.
If enough accessories are available in Keymod, they won't be able to ignore it. Although not apples to apples... stuff that's not adopted by the military is often seen in use... buttstocks, Pmags, etc. Installing a rail system is a little more involved than a mag or stock... but when fat civilians have a better solution than real soldiers, it has a way of forcing the issue.
