I find these arguments to be pretty far off base. Attachment is quite easy, it's literally two pins that you push forward and tighten down. What's really important is that it is a lightweight tube with a STANDARDIZED attachment method.

Tubes are nice because they are light. As a civy, what are you putting on your handguard? Front sight, sling, light, VFG or hand stop, and that's generally it. Why have a bulky quad rail?

If it gets hot, wear gloves.

You can't call it a tube or I'll have to take it off my gun.

The KMR has some soul and design in it beyond a simple match gun's tube.

If you're military, you're only adding a laser.

And the KeyMod attachment system is specifically designed for Mil application. That's how it started... The KMR handguard we enjoy every day of our lives differs in design from the Military version, but the attachment is the same.

I can't imagine that scenario in civilian use where one would then fire a sufficient number of rounds that the rail would get hot enough that gloves would be needed. He'll, I can't even envision a scenario where I need to urgently grab a rifle.

I have a set of MI SSK handguards coming in today!

I shoot with gloves, so I doubt I will be having any burn problems....

The bulky aspect is exactly why I myself like the quad rails. The tube style handguards, are a bit thin for me. The four rails give it just enough that it feels right

Home invasion, at least first thing that comes to my mind, provided I was close enough to my bedroom.
