yeah, it tightens it right up.
unfortunately, on a SIG P226 it makes it practically a permanent installation as the front lug on the rail is not completely flat and the light can't be removed without loosening the screws.
I suppose I could remove a small bit of the material in the center of the locking bar but I have an aversion to jimmy-f***ing with new equipment before I am completely familiar with the issue. fortunately, my TLR-1 works just fine on this gun...
never push a wrench...
Since this thread is pretty old and the price of an XTI is pretty low I figured I'd post.
I got one around 2008 when I was at the Infantry Warfighters Conference at Ft. Benning. After talking to a rep there from Insight I was literally told to take it and have fun. It was new in the box. I've used this light for low-light shooting w/ my Glock 19 for just general range time and classes. Great weapons light.
Additionally I've used it on my M4 clearing rooms at McKenna and here in Afghanistan. The only reason I took it off my M4 is the Surefire M620V with its IR head. That thing is great.
The XTI is lightweight, easy to use and very durable. The strobe does take some getting used to, not only in its use but in its implementation. Double tapping doesn't always get the desired results. Not really an XTI issue but more an operator issue, it takes practice.
Now I don't have any knowledge on it, but I'm not sure if this light will fit holsters designed for the X300. I haven't seen too many holsters out there that accommodate this light. That could be a potential con if using this specifically for a pistol.
Once I get another upper, the XTI will ride on the 12o'clock position.
It's got great white light and good strong beam that can illuminate targets out at the 50m range.
For the money I'd suggest it to anyone. Hell it didn't even cost me a dime. Thanks Insight!
