    Okay, you have a "go-to" weapon......what about "go-to" ammunition?

I have an ammo can with several hundred each of the following (all 5.56 NATO pressure stuff, no .223): Hornady TAP, Mk262, Mk318 SOST, and SST 70gr TSX. I also have a 500rd case of IMI 77gr OTM. All this ammo is ~ $1 per round and I have accumulated it over the last few years.

All of the above is in addition to the M855 I have set back, but that IMHO is a "backup" to this stuff. God forbid should the zombies/natural disaster/otherwise SHTF arise I will grab that ammo can and the IMI case.

Now I just gotta confirm zero using each with the M855 50yd POA/POI IBSZ (*should* be close for practical "working" distances).

To quote Alex Trebek: "Can you phrase that in the form of a question?"

Are you asking people what they have set back for self defense? Or how much? Or what sort of zero changes will be required for each? Not administering any kind of beatdown, just trying to help you get responses that will be useful to you.

And my "oh poop" carbine ammo is Hornady 5.56 75-grain TAP, plus some Speer Gold Dot .223 barrier-blind stuff.

    My go to is 7.62...
I don't need to argue about ammo.

    hahaha.

    Just playing.
    For 5.56 I keep some 262 and 75gr TAP.

    Go to ammo:

    .223/ 5.56 - 55 grain FMJ
    9mm - 115 grain FMJ
    .45 ACP - 230 grain FMJ
    12 Gauge - 00 Buck shot/ 2 3/4" 1 oz. Slugs

I have several hundred rounds of the Black Hills, Hornandy TAP, Federal, Winchester, Remington premium ammunition for all calibers/ firearms that I own, but the basic ammo is what I buy in quantity (cases at a time).

I wouldn't lose any sleep if this type of ammo is all that I had access to when loading up to use one of my guns for defense.
After all, shot placement is the most important factor not the type of loading.

.223 55gr Speer Gold Dots for HD. I stock up on CBC 5.56.
It is from the construction of underground FEMA camps. I can't say more because there a guy parked in front of house in an AMC Pacer. He is acting like he talking on the phone, but I know better.

I have to sign off now & put my laptop in the microwave.

Hey, no beatdown taken! Basically those two points for those interested in sharing. My personal goal is a "basic combat load" (old school here....210rds or 7x30rd mags) of each load.

I don't worry about ammo, FMJ Ball ammo has killed plenty of people.
