Again, check out the Griffon HMMS.

"The system is made from fire retardant thread (non-asbestos) and is MSDS compliant. The inner core is rated and tested for temperatures up to 3000F. Full auto rated – tested to 9 magazines full auto continuous by members of NSW."

While I don't have a M16 to test it on, there was absolutely no damage to the suppressor nor the HMMS after a couple semi auto mag dumps.

Thank you for the quick reply. The thing is, this is not an issue with running a bolt gun, mirage, or removing the can. It has to do with dropping the rifle to the sling and the can burning myself or my other gear it touches. The reason I went with Rifles Only's cover was because they went up to 2" in diameter. I have a few different suppressors for my rifles and handguns, and have never used one of these before. I understand blocking mirage, and have used one of Armageddon's on my FA762SS and 762SOCOM Mini to help avoid that. (Both on Larue OBR 7.62 rifles.)

The one in particular I am concerned with the is the rifle in the background pictured here. It is a Gemtech MK9K that Dr. Dater reworked for me to use as a thread on .300 Blackout can.

I don't have the new HAD, but have the older MAD cover. It's the dams inner core (3,000 degrees), but the outer sleeve isn't as disable as the HAD.

I've used my MAD cover on over a dozen range trips so far, and a couple miles of chasing after Hogs in Tennessee and it has held up great.

One nice thing about Rifles only is they have a black end to the core so you don't see the white like on the Griffin. Rifles only also sells extra outer sleeves in the rare chance you melt the outer Cordura.

Fwiw, the inner core is a glass material (non-asbestos).

ETA...the HAD showed up this AM. I got it installed today. Will run it over the holiday. The inner sleeve slipped over the 2" diameter of the MK9K just fine. The laces on these HAD's is some kind of Kevlar weave..much more slick than the paracord on other wraps I have experienced and has an outside coating that gives it a gray/green or darkened look. A good match for the UE Gray TAD gear jacket pictured. It came with a short amount of shrink wrap on the ends to keep it from unravelling, however; after installation, it slipped off. They provided another short piece as a spare..put it on..and it slipped right off. I had some of the same wrap left over from another project and made them a bit longer than they came from Rifles Only, slid it on..hit it with the heat gun..smashed it between my thumb and finger flattening it out a bit..and tucked it under itself. It appears to be holding fine.

Let us know how it performs with continued mag dumps, I'm curious now. 3,000deg is a serious claim to be throwing around considering stellite alloy melts at 2500deg.

I believe only the core (glass fiber) is rated to 3,000. The replaceable outer cover is only rated to 2, 000.

What size did you order? Ie if you ordered the 7" was it 7" long or slightly shorter to accomidate QD latches or whatever.

My can is exactly 7.5" and it covers the full 7.5" with just a hair over, which I wanted, to protect the end caps. Fitting was easy, for such a large diameter can as 2". Overall I am super happy with this cover. I plan on ordering a couple more of them for my SF cans. I figured since the sizes were right on..I would order for the full length of the can and the locking ring...if I want to remove the can, just slide the cover forward a bit and undo the lock.

I will let you guys know how it holds up with some shooting.

My cover was true to size. I would recommend measuring your actual can and order accordingly. (Usually .5" shorter for QD mechanisms).
