"Overpriced" is a subjective term. "Overpriced" for my family of 6 on a tight budget? By most bean counter methodologies, yes. "Overpriced" vis-a-vis the needs of a police officer, soldier, carbine course competitor, or someone worried about long-term preparedness? Perhaps not.
I have a lot of 'pricey' gear to my credit - starting with the rifles themselves. Given my context and my needs, I have not been able to justify an ACOG to date, but considering what they deliver (notable exceptions above notwithstanding), I do NOT consider them "overpriced," even though - for the foreseeable future - I could not afford one.
While caveat emptor always prevails, there are (have been) some great deals here in the equipment exchange on 'gently used' ACOGs and other pricey (compared to factory new pricing) items. I have bought several items from members here w/o complaint, & would not hesitate to buy an ACOG in similar fashion. And that's an easy way to take some of the sticker shock off a high-quality piece of gear.
