Let it soak a few days in Shooters Choice. it will dissolve anything of consequence.

What gets me the most are the ones that have them for SHTF or HD and don't take care of them. If things go bad, there ain't gonna be an invite to the fight. Not to mention any time outs cuz they aren't ready or hit the replay button.

The problem with the Military is it is stupid-anal to an unnecessary degree about cleaning and full-retard when it comes to lubrication or I should say, lack thereof.

    AMEN!!!

If you ever have a stuck spent cartridge (failure to extract) you'll see the importance of cleaning the chamber. The gun is effectively DOWN until you can get a rod and pound it out.

I hate them -- they don't clean the chamber - and do a crap job of anything.

I have Tipton Carbon fiber rods for cleaning at home, and I have either USGI or the coated CleanBore section rods in my cleaning kits.

What chemicals do you use when cleaning? Just fireclean or something stronger for copper removal as well?

    Chamber Cleaning

I clean mine after almost every use. If I can't see the chrome it's dirty. Mpro7 cleaner soak, brush, qtips and plastic dental pick with a patch to really get in there.

Does anybody's answer change if you're shooting ammo with an exposed lead tip? I recall an old thread where it was stated that exposed lead tips could cause buildup on the feed ramp and induce malfunctions. If you are shooting exposed lead, does this change your choice of chemicals or do most of the quality chems handle the lead buildup pretty well?

Don't over think this, if there is a buildup on the feedramp remove it. Just a chamber brush and normal barrel cleaning is all that is needed.
