I'll have a chance to put some rounds through a buddy's 14.5" War Sport pretty soon. Hoping to do it this upcoming weekend. I'll compare it to my 16" DD middy and see how it shoots. I'll break down the rifle and examine the parts and compare felt recoil when shooting 5.56 and .223 loads.

    For 2800, get a SR-15, a T-1, and ammo.

I'm still trying to see what exactly makes this rifle worth $2800....I'm not knocking it, just want to be informed.

Just as an FYI, there's a dedicated thread on this rifle:
    https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread...sport-us-rifle

It costs this much because it has all kinds of "custom" components, i.e., 12.5"/14.5" barrels with mid-length gas systems (yes, even the 12.5"), custom rail system with a weird muzzle shroud near the end intended to work with a Battlecomp (probably the only truly custom part of this gun other than the gas port config), VLTOR MUR, CMC trigger, BAD-ASS 45' ambi-safety, Troy ambi-mag release, RAPTOR ambi-charging handle, KNS anti-rotation pins, Magpul Enhanced trigger guard, VLTOR A5 buffer system (on some), Battlecomp, various kinds of Magpul stocks and grips, etc.

Basically, if you can get your hands on their rail system and figure out their gas port configuration, all the parts are out there needed to build one yourself.

WTF did I just read in that thread....

The use if a bungee or 550 cord isn't new, it's also just as easily done on any other rifle. The absurdly non-technical explanation of build parts by Yaeger and Costa made it pretty clear that their endorsement alone was supposed to be the selling point. Some of those claims are pretty out there too (the rail reducing muzzle flash? I think the BattleComp negates that) and aren't supported by anything other than two salesmen who apparently couldn't even be bothered to take their promo video seriously. That is a really expensive bungee cord...

Does the Yaeger edition come with a rail mounted E-Tool?

OP I changed my mind. Buy a KAC or give the new DD Mk12 a try.

Cool looking gun but I cant see myself spending 2800 bucks on it when I can pick up a KAC SR-15 for just over 2k.

If you are set on buying a custom boutique rifle check out Arsenal Democracy too. I spent a day with the owners and several of their rifles. They are pretty ****ing sweet. If I was rich Id snatch up a couple in a heart beat. However for a regular guy like myself, my customized 6920 works just as well.

It's a damn fine rifle and shoots real nice. I've met a couple of the Warsport guys and trained with their COO since they are based out of NC. These rifles were designed for mostly CQB purposes. The handguard was designed around a forward c-clamp style grip. The extended rail over the flashhider was designed to reduce flash signature as well as to mount a flashlight above flashhider, reducing barrel shadowing. I can't remember all the finer points but it's a nice rifle. It's got a hefty price tag and I think law enforcement and military were mostly in mind when they made the rifle. It's like any other tool, if you have a job that requires you to hammer in 10,000 nails every day, you'd consider getting a nail gun but for the rest of use average joes, a walmart hammer will do. But if you have 2800 bucks to burn, buy it!

I wondering what kind of long term stress problems that rail is going to have being directly over the flash suppressor?

I don't think I would refer to a KAC (and other mil-spec AR manufacturers such as BCM, DD, etc) as "Walmart hammers." There has been a ton of hype around these guns. I have yet to find or see any pics of the internals, and I have yet to find specs on the bolt, carrier, what buffer it uses, barrel specs, etc. I keep hearing that it's all "proprietary." That's all well and good but I want to know the technical specs of the rifle. It's got a lot of nice add-ons, I'll give it that. I have a good friend who got his 14.5" last Thursday. He put about 200 rounds through it and gave it an initial cleaning and inspection. While he was cleaning, he noticed the feedramp had a chip in it. Took it in yesterday and the feedramp was cracked. They replaced the barrel and fired 60 rounds through it. He plans on putting more rounds through it this weekend and if I can find time I'm gonna meet him to put some rounds through it myself. If I do get to test it I'll be sure to take pics of the internals and give a review.

*Edit: The rifle is based around a "Low Visibility" concept. This video shows the opposite of low visibility. Check out the muzzle flash:
