If that's what you want, go for it. Since you're here asking, basically everybody has looked at that price point and figure out what they could add to an SR-15 Mod 1 to make it more awesome, and objectively the KAC model is probably a better option, but if guns were 100% objective there wouldn't be any diversity.

I know pretty much all the parts. BTW it uses a Vltor A5 receiver extension but the bolt is where I come up empty. Please guys look past who is endorsing it as I don't care about that. I am an average dude as said before not some Delta force operator lol. I just enjoy good kit of all kinds. So we all know I like this firearm and lust after almost everything KAC (and I have been TOLD these 2 companies are linked somehow?). So it boils down to picking up this slick piece as I don't know if ill ever see one again for less than 3k OR WAIT on the KAC SR15 Mod2. Does anyone have an ETA on that rifle and price tag. As I said before I am in my late 20's and will only be able to practically afford one or the other for a couple years. BCM's, Colts and other top tier rifles don't impose such an issue as they are amazing and rather affordable. I love DD as well but find them kind of pricey compared to the others. Thanks again for all your help again as this is an expensive decision for me at least.

Mod 2's are the same MSRP as the Mod 1's. $2499. When we get ours we'll be closer to the $2K mark. We were told April delivery but still no rifles.

I would hands down buy a SR15 over anything out there right now.

Responses here are typical of these types of "should I or shouldn't I"? threads.

Ask yourself this. What does this thing offer you over another similar type of AR? Whether it be buying a complete uppper and dropping it onto a lower, building an entire AR or modifying an existing one. There are so many choices right now it's mind boggling.

Personally I see nothing in the specs that warrant that price tag. That is just my opinion. I would spend my money on a good solid upgraded AR and probably look at getting some tools and attending a course to learn how to build one, or a basic carbine type course to become more proficient. Knowledge is often times more important than something tangible.

Who "TOLD" you that KAC and War Sport were somehow linked? Not that it matters, but it's time to put this rumor you have generated to rest.

If you can't afford to buy another rifle for several years after just this one purchase, how the heck are you going to afford to feed it? How are you going to afford to get a good optic for it?

If this rifle is worth the $2,800 they want for it, the brand will still be around in a few years and you can buy it then.

I don't understand this mentality... "I must have it NOW! OMG! I have no self control!"

Listen commando, don't try and attack me with your bs. It was something I heard through the grapevine and wondered if anyone here could validate or say it was bs. As far as the rifle, I can easily afford both it, optics, ammo and mags. What I was driving at was if I was going to dump at least double the money of say a BCM into a rifle I wouldn't do that again for some time. That being said I literally just got off the phone with a large distributor in my area that's one of the top sellers for commercial Knights. He informed me of his sale on all SR15's now for $1800-1900 and said when the Mod 2s come in initial pricing will be $2200. So, I guess I will wait for the Mod2 over what appears to be an unknown quantity (WarSport) here. I was looking for advice not to bicker. Laid to rest.

And with that we can close the thread. Hopefully the OP will update us with his purchase and his opinion of his new purchase.
