    Colt's LE6920SOCOM

It seems that somewhere I read that this was originally intended to be a limited production product, but that its popularity led to its production beyond original intent. Some production limit on the order of 3 or 5k seems to ring bells...

This is absolutely not about the "SOCOM II"...

Is it plausible that the introduction of the troy-railed product corresponded to the end of the original (limited) production quota? Twenty years from now, will the original KAC-railed product "letter" differently from the newer, arguably lesser version, so as to distinguish between lowers originally shipped with one or the other forearm?

Substitute "This weekend..." if it helps

The question is about Colt's' business practices...

I believe it was your run on sentence and SWAG at the future that turned others off.
Are you asking if your Knight's SOCOM will be worth more than the Troy SOCOM at some unknown future date (one week- 20 years)?
-No one can predict the future.
-You are assuming that the previous was a "limited edition" and the change to the latter was only to further increase the value of the former.

All you would have to do is change out the Troy for a KAC so no I would say they will not be worth anymore.

Well, as the Chief of Prognostication and head tea-leaf reader for Colt's Manufacturing, I'd love to tell you, but unfortunately our lizard overlords have forbidden me from discussing this.

Disagree. From a pure collector's perspective, a NIB KAC version is worth more. Not only would you have to fake it by swapping out the rail, but the sealed Colt accessory packs also included the KAC accessories (rail panels, grip) so you'd have to fake that too. The serial number range is considerably lower and the boxes had the old blue labels, not the white labels the Troy version are shipping with. All in all I think real Colt collectors will be able to tell the difference and will pay the premium for the KAC version.

And yes, I heard the same thing that the "original" KAC SOCOMs were going to be made in a run of 3,500 - 5,000 units only. I think the info started on TOS. I found the post from a credible source but I'm not going to link it here.
