I have this Yost vice. I'm very happy with the quality. If you check Amazon they have some in your price range.

I have a 6" Wilton vise and it has done hundreds of barrels, lowers, etc... If you search eBay there are a lot of vises for sale. I use mine for gun stuff and minor home shit so not sure what your uses will be.

Cool thanks guys. I don't have a set use for it (Ok, yes gun work for sure) I just want a good vice that isn't going to break on me. I didn't think it would that big of a deal until I read review after review on various vices and how the jaws are breaking so easy. I didn't know it was that hard to make a two pieces of metal to clamp to each other and has some quality behind it....

Yost was what I picked up when putting my work bench together, cannot remember the exact model though.
"If you love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsel nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen"

A good Wilton if you can afford it. Be aware that the less expensive Wilton vises are imports. The 5" one I want cost $650. Home Depot sells a 5" Wilton for less than a hundred bucks. It is Chinese and junk with terrible reviews! I hate it when quality manufacturers whore themselves out to big box stores. GH

OP, a vise is a tool used for workpiece holding. Vice is something you go downtown for. First thing I thought of when I saw the title of the thread was maybe you had crack and hookers on your workbench and were posting pics.

    LOL!

I too have been in the market for one. Lowe's has the Bessey ones. Id prefer a 5" but would like one sub $150 one. Most i have seen at the stores are loose-fitting and look rather shoddy. Im going to hit up an estate sale and Ebay.

I forget the brand, but if the wife ever takes it off my nuts I'll be sure to check for a name.
