Has nothing to do with, "Lower quality weapons". Good grief..................

I know what you're saying. I don't mind paying a little more than where I find it cheapest to support a local business or a board sponsor. I will not pay the gun shop's month's rent though.

I happened to add to the stable with that deal. I normally try to avoid Wal-Mart when I can but sometimes saving some decent money makes it worth it.

    .

The clerk in sporting goods can scan an AR's shelf tag with the hand held scanner and search for that item at another WM within a 150 miles radius. They told me this morning they went from about 50 Colt's within 100 miles of Baton Rouge last Sunday to 0 this morning.

I guess this is a prime example of the old gun show saying, "you snooze, you lose".

It's really tempting to buy one and set it back in the safe for future generations. Especially at that price!

I called every Walmart within a reasonable distance to me and was able to locate a SOCOM. They also had a standard 6920, 6940 and a 6920 Blackhawk! package, all for $997. I went home with the SOCOM.

According to the guy behind the counter, this is an inventory reduction sale and he said prices go back to normal tomorrow.

In south Louisiana, the basic LE6920 is not marked down, it is still the normal price (over here) of $1097 + tax.

The LE6920SOCOM, LE6940 and the LE6920 Blackhawk Compilation of stuff Package are clearance priced at $997 and won't be handled by WM anymore.
Also, the MagPul variants - LE6920MP-FDE & LE6920MP-B are $849 and are on clearance, too.

To me, the SOCOM is (was) by far the best deal at $1090 OTD.

But I know a guy that found a 6940 this morning. So, if you look real hard, there still might be one sitting around at a WM in Podunksville.

I just hope some people that didn't have a AR were able to pick a quality one with this thread. ??

I've been told that one WM will match the price of another WM. If you can find the WM (probably in the same state) that has the clearance prices, you might be able to get one in your area at the low price. Worth a try??

There's bound to be a WM "near" you in the GSoT that has one. Not like that is a small little area to search.
    Good luck...
