Apparently that 74 school shootings is a huge stretch on someone's part. The 74 number includes things like someone got shot in the parking lot by a jealous husband. But is a "school shooting."

It's the same way they include justified shootings in gun violence statistics to make it look like states with higher gun ownership rates are also more dangerous. To them, truth is not that which is factual; truth is what the public needs to believe.

I was discussing this with a colleague of mine who recently attended a lecture by Lt. Col. Dave Grossman (author of On Killing) where he discussed mass school shootings in Germany.

Back in 2002 in Erfurt Germany an expelled 19 year old student killed shot and killed 15 people (13 teachers and two students) at a school gymnasium with a Mossberg 590 and a GLOCK 17.

The Winnenden school shooting in Baden-Württemberg Germany happened in 2009 when a 17 year old student shot and killed 13 students (another two at a nearby car dealership) with a Beretta 92 handgun.

Back in the 1980s when we had evil imported rifles such as FN FALs, HK 91s and Polytechs and you could buy surplus 5.56 for $100 for 1000 rounds and we didn't have weekly school shootings.

So what changed between now and then?

Because it wasn't guns and it wasn't ammo stockpiles. I remember the serious gun guys buying ammo by the pallet. I remember when it was "gun rooms" rather than gun safes.
