    Tactically Tactical Tactics

I know that tactical is the cash cow buzz word and that it is what all of the cool kids are doing now days, however, at some point the whole notion just begins to strain credulity. Case in point:

There is absolutely nothing tactical about either cargo shorts or the fat ass size 44 waistband wearing them.

I don't normally care about the tomfoolery enough to comment on it, but this just struck be as asinine. I wish the industry would find another term to sell their crap.

Premium mall ninja gear? That might work.

Course I have seen some local LEs who need that size.

Tactical is a mindset. If I'm wearing it, it's tacticool, dude.

Speaking of which, do these Depends make my ass look fat?

I recently heard this during an active shooter training event...

"5.11 pants? must be an operator!"

    Wow. Much operator. So tactical.

people buy $500+ sweaters and $3000 rifles because some guy approves of it. I know guys who've been to the extreme suck and back, none of them sported such operator equipment.

EDIT: I buy products for functionality, not tacti-coolity.

Good point, there should be a "GQ" for tactical wears.

    ...oh wait, that's Recoil magazine.

    Nevermind.

I'm trying to think of a gun rag that isn't laden with ads for Viagra and other "male enhancement" products. But it's not coming to me. And considering that most of the gun guys I know are also truck guys....

Earnestly, there are only two gun rags I enjoy for anything other than light entertainment and those are SWAT and RECOIL.

It's just begging for recognition that they might use firearms seldom at best. And if it sells then the trend won't stop.

Reminds me of guys wearing camo in public. It screams to everyone that they hunt...so they must be super cool and macho. I can tolerate a camo ball cap here and there. But I think it's similar to the bragging mindset of a teenie bopper of facebook when guys pull up to the huge Buccee's on I-10 decked in camo from head to toe just to show everyone that they're on their way to the deer lease that once or twice a year they go. There's absolutely no need to wear camo on a road trip, or into town at all for that matter. If anything, it can attract negative attention from thieves who'd assume there must be nice firearms in their vehicle, plus ice chests and loads of expensive gear.

It's just the industry trying to keep their heads above water. I mean do we really care if "Joe Tactical" is kitted up to the max and some well respected ammo maker is pushing the "Zombie" angle along with top AR parts maker doing the same. There isn't nearly enough people who are serious about their "tools", kits, clothes, etc., to keep many of our highly regarded manufacturers and dealers in the "black". If it wasn't for "Airsofters", posers, wannabe's, etc., a lot of the manufacturers, distributors, and retailers would be on the precipice of going under. Every time I see someone decked out in all their 5.11, Blackhawk, Tactical Tailor glory, myself included, I say a quiet "Thank You Dude"! It keeps the wheels of our "Tactical" business rolling.
