LOL! What a great public relations ploy.
I expend tremendous amounts of energy and time merely to be normal.

I've wondered about the 'reward good drivers' stops. I have always said it's just another reason to see if someone will stop or if they will punch it. These LEOs didn't check IDs/reg/insurance but , cameras were there also. They still approached the stopped vehicle as if it was a regular stop ,meaning they still expect the unexpected. Looked like the one LEO even made sure the rear gate on the first vehicle was closed (doesn't matter on gates boys, only trunks, but even most trunks now open from the inside). I'm not anti-cop but I am anti-'good driver stops'. They need another PR tactic. Maybe sell tickets to a good ole dunkin booth.

Making sure the trunk or gate is latched is half the reason that's done.

I'm not either, for a few reasons.

Good laugh, and I'm sure they got some decent PR. But still.
The advice above is worth exactly what you paid for it.

Why would the other reasons be needed on a 'good driver stop'? You see my point and we agree that there are better ways of PRing. This is done under the guise of a 'good driver stop' when other motives are at play.

Are you telling me if one of these "good drivers" refused to pull over because they were in a hurry (but maintained doing the speed limit and obeyed traffic laws), that it wouldn't become a "real traffic stop"? That will be the new thing. "I didn't stop because I know I was obeying all the traffic laws and I didn't want any ice cream."

I'll be real with you hotshot. I'm not going to sit here and tell you if this happened to me I would be angry and pissed at the LEOs. I'd have a good laugh and enjoy the ice cream. But what choice do I have? They are the ones surrounding my car with guns and handcuffs.

This is why I love motorcycles. No tag, you flip the blues and then they dust you on one wheel.

Ok hotshot, i'll let you know what happens in reality. The traffic stop would be called out over the radio. The unit performing the stop would inform dispatch that the vehicle isn't stopping, immediately after that radio traffic, THE REASON FOR THE STOP WOULD BE AIRED BY THE PRIMARY OFFICER/UNIT. I suspect that "ice cream" is not probable cause, so a supervisor would shut it down immediately (and usually even if there is a legit reason the pursuit can/would be called off due to numerous factors including, severity of the crime, traffic, type of vehicle, etc). But that's reality speaking, Im sure something else would happen in "imagination land".....right?

I like motorcycles too. Im not on the fatality collision reconstruction team, so my paperwork on motorcycle crashes is pretty easy....
