Bud's Gun Shop has been just fine to buy from in my experience (three orders). Just be certain the product model # (SKU) perfectly matches what you want, because their website often has incorrect photos or specifications. That looks like a really good deal.

Just picked up a primary arms 4-14x44 FFP strictly for range and it's been great so far. i have had it out to 300yrds and it hold zero. Scope, ADM scout mount and butler creek caps for $400. They have a new FFP coming out with their patented reticle which looks good.

My buddy has been trying to figure out who to order from this last week mostly because he's found some damn good prices.

Here are the sites and prices:

budsgunshop.com has the Leupold Mark AR Mod 1 3-9x40 mildot package with mounts for $289

lg-outdoors.com has the Leupold Mark AR Mod 1 3-9x40 mildot package with mounts for $309.40

grabagun.com has the Leupold Mark AR Mod 1 3-9x40 mildot package with mounts for $281.91

cheaperthandirt.com has the Leupold Mark AR Mod 1 3-9x40 mildot package with mounts for $293.76

Cheaper than dirt can burn in hell as far as I'm concerned, they cancelled an order my dad made that said "in stock" at the time because the item was supposedly not "really" in stock. When he checked later that day it was in stock but cost twice as much. They did this with a ton of people, I can't figure out how their still in business. My guess is that's why they have a lower price now, trying to win back some of those customers they screwed over. My buddy heard about this when it happened during the panic so he's not inclined to give them a dime.

budsgunshop.com was where he was going to order from but after some research we found they had a terribly bad rep. Cards getting over charged, fraud (Yankee Marshal mentioned $9000 missing from his credit card!), poor customer service, rude and/or belligerent staff, exorbitant restocking fees for orders that never showed up, the same high restocking fees being charged for orders that buds screwed up by sending the wrong item, printable return labels that aren't emailed for 2 weeks, and items that take close to a month to be delivered. It sounded too much like a complete horror show that my buddy just didn't want to risk it.

lg-outdoors.com was next but their reviews were only slightly better than buds with some of the same problems. They seem to really like sending the wrong item (even though the customer had ordered the right item) then sending the right one then charging restocking fees for the wrong item that they themselves had sent.

grabagun.com has very good reviews, twice as good or more as buds and almost that much as lg-outdoors.com The problem is they list the Leupold package with the right number (91740) but make no mention of the mounts? Do any of you have any experience with grabagun.com? He's probably going with them now. I'm just tired of doing all the reading and research. Thanks for being so helpful guys.

I own the Weaver 3-10x40 mil/mil and it's a crazy deal for the money. Several people I've talked to that own one just love it.
I understand his concern about weight but you're getting what you pay for and I've never noticed a difference in 3 or 4 ounces.

CTD can do all the various bad things to itself that I don't care to list out. They are dead to me for their business practices during the various panics.

I've had good experiences with Bud's in two rifle and one ammo orders. I'm surprised that you found such bad reports. No experience with the other two you listed. You could also look for an ebay seller with good feedback, or as for a price match from Optics Planet or SWFA. OP has the same combo in stock:
    http://www.opticsplanet.com/leupold-...-w-2pc-mo.html

SWFA has a written price match policy. OP doesn't, but has a "ask for a special deal" feature and I suspect they would match. They also offer 10% off coupon codes fairly frequently. I've had multiple good experiences with both of them, but OP has free shipping and SWFA doesn't.

If he's not married to the mil-dot, he might want to check out the Nitrex (Weaver) TR-One 3-9x42 at Natchez. I think they're still $120, but it is a higher end scope than the Classic series you were checking out, and optically better than anything on your first list. It's a close out deal and a whole lot of scope for the money, leaving plenty for rings. My son has the 1.5-5 version on his .243 and I've been really impressed with it. Japanese made for what it's worth.

As an update, he ordered the Leupold Mark AR Mod 1 package from Buds. Before his order he called and talked to customer service to voice his concerns and he said they were very nice. His order was for the 3-9x40 Mildot scope and mount combo that ended up being $301 shipping included. That's cheaper than I paid by $48 and mine didn't come with a mount. They even called him to verify his address a 2nd time and were again very nice. I'll report back on shipping speed and the product being as advertised. He said he ordered on Wednesday after work around 7PM, so it probably counts as Thursday business day. I'm hoping it works out for him, if so then I might add Buds as a new ordering option.

Update: He got his Leupold Thursday. That's 1 week even though he paid the extra $6 for shipping. That's pretty slow compared to most places. The product was correct, it came with the Leupold 2 piece mounts and the box was sealed in plastic. He's pretty happy even though the wait was a little longer. He did however get it at $48 cheaper than mine and he also got a free mount so it seems like a decent trade of shipping speed for a lower price and a free set of what seemed like decent rings to me. He weighed the scope and mounts and it came out to 17 oz even. That's pretty damn light considering some of the scopes we looked at were 17 oz without a mount. Buds is okay, they did fairly well with his order although shipping took longer than swfa or opticsplanet. If I can wait I might use them as his order and the description was correct. All in all he's happy and that's what counts.
