But the MA bully books are greatly out numbered by the non-MA, no surprise there.
Color me surprised. I might have to actually buy the damn thing just to compare and contrast.

I once came across a copy of a book titled "Looking Forward to Being Attacked." It was aimed at teaching self-defense tactics to women, with the emphasis upon making the attacker painfully regret his judgment in victim selection.

I disagree with your assertion that this type of thinking has been dead since 1961. Though that may be due to my inexperience with pre-1961 America.

There will about be a pacifist element in society and they will encourage, even demand, pussification of the next generation. That way the children don't have a choice but to be pacifists and if a few have to be sacrificial lambs until the violence gene is bread out, they're okay with that. Often these pussies don't have children, or have them and try to raise them like you would a banzai tree.

And there's always the counter element. Depending on which end of the pendulum swing our national focus is on, each side will enjoy their time in the limelight. I assure you, the self defense industry (including MA training) is doing just fine. Masculinity is still being taught. Don't lose any sleep over it. The men who know what it means to be men will ensure that their sons and daughters are aware of those characteristics. When times get rough, weak people die and if resets the balance.

I'm cautious to long for the good old days though. The same society that taught that fisticuffs made you a man is the one that said blacks were half-people and gays were a toxic creature that should be beaten to death. There's a middle ground somewhere in there...

I don't think it's died in 1961. But somewhere in the 1980s (with efforts going back to the 70s) things seemed to go from "ok to stand up for yourself" to "everyone involved is punished, even the victim." That seemed to evolve into a mandate on the victim to "find an alternative to violence" and that resulted in official policies like these.

As far as the "good old days" things have generally always been bad and good. We can easily stress the good from generations past without embracing the bad. Teaching children that they should stand up for themselves and build self respect won't make them hate anybody. In fact it's damn good advice for everyone, especially those who are targeted because of race or because they are gay or whatever other reason is being used to single them out for persecution.

Great book. Worth a bit of money now too, not that I'd ever sell mine.

A real discussion in my household, paraphrased:

    Me: What comes first?
3yo: Family, our family, you, mommy, baby brother (1 1/2yo).
Me: What happens if someone's mean to mommy or baby bro?
3yo: I'm gonna punch them and jump on them and beat them up.
Me: Good boy! And you will never, ever get in trouble for defending yourself or your family.
    3yo: Let's wrestle!

My boys will be raised to believe and practice self-protection and defending those who can't defend themselves. My wife is on board 100% and expects many phone calls from school administrators due to the PC emasculation of our youth.

When I first saw your thread yesterday this is exactly what popped into my mind as I read through it. I didn't have the time to search for that phamplet otherwise I would have posted it then.
