    Negligent Dischage..."It Happens"...

Ky. lawmaker's accidental gun discharge sets off debate

FRANKFORT, KY. — The accidental firing of a handgun in a lawmaker's office ignited debate Wednesday over whether guns should be restricted on the campus of Kentucky's State Capitol.

Rep. Leslie Combs (D) accidentally fired her handgun Tuesday afternoon while unloading it in her office in the Capitol Annex — the building adjacent to the Capitol that houses legislative offices and committee meeting rooms.

"I'm a gun owner. It happens," she said Wednesday, adding that she was following safety precautions as she unloaded her Ruger 380 semi-automatic handgun. No one was injured.

Combs said she has a concealed carry permit, allowing her to carry the gun, which she said she often carries in her purse.

Well obviously she was NOT following all the rules of gun safety or their would have not been a negligent discharge. The fact that she seems to believe that the occasional negligent discharge is part of being a gun owner and somehow to be expected just shows she hasn't learned anything from it and doesn't intend to change her personal version of safe gun handling.

IMO this stupid idiot is way worse than the Chipolte morons.

Feel free to reach out and explain the four rules of gun safety.

Kinda like my son's buddy who ND'd his AR-15 into the ceiling... "It slammed fired, there was no way my finger was near the trigger..." right...... My son keeps a watchful eye on that buddy all the time now because he knows the truth.

A "Gun Free Zone" for legislators? If it's good enough for the schools, then why not.

P.S. Madam, there is no such thing as an accidental discharge. We, the shooter, are responsible for every round sent down-range.

Statistically, it happens. Also, statistically, a fraction of the population is clinically retarded. While unloading is the part that genuinely confuses me, unless the ND was after she assumed it was unloaded and pulled the trigger to 'make sure'.

If your gun of choice is a .380, you're retarded in the first place.

    So is Diane Finestien....
If you can't win a gun fight against a lightly-trained individual during broad daylight with 88 rounds of 30-06, I'm not sure you'd be able to do it with... any other firearm.

At the very least she needs to go back for some remedial training.

So what would likely happen to a normal citizen if they "accidentally" discharged their weapon in a lawmakers's office, because, you know, it happens?
