My guess is finger on the trigger and as she attempted to pull slide open she discharged the weapon.

Way more plausible... but still a combination of poor training and brain fade.

Seems she nailed the bottom of a book case.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around people's fascination with handling their guns for no good reason. WTF would anyone be unloading their carry gun at work? If she was going to lock it up during the work day, why not just put gun and holster into lock box and be done. My carry gun goes from my safe to my holster then back into the safe as needed. I'll unload @ home a few times during the week for dry fire. That's it.

Aint gonna lie, I had a ND about 8 years ago. Sat down in my living room to clean my Glock 22. After I was done cleaning I put the gun back together and loaded it. Realized I had left my holster on the kitchen counter. Grabbed the gun and as I was standing up I tripped over the rug the coffee table was sitting on. Fell onto the coffee table and pulled the trigger. Shot a 180 grain hollow point through my coffee table, through a Disney DVD collection and into the floor. Easily the stupidest thing I have ever done.

At least you understand what you did wrong (finger on the trigger) and were able to make changes to prevent making the same mistake again.

This is what a lot of people fail to understand, the four rules aren't some stupid stop sign in the middle of nowhere that are to be obeyed because somebody says so. They are there so when something unexpected happens, like a trip or fall, you are still safe from a unintended discharge.

Just waiting for the NDs to start at the college I teach at. Weapons are to be stored in the vehicles - unloaded - while faculty, staff, students are on campus. Can then reload when back in vehicle. NDs waiting to happen. - john
