The ONLY way the Republicans can win by playing "novelty president" would be to nominate an openly gay candidate. Too bad Larry Craig resigned from the senate. He could have had a "coming out" party that would have probably earned him two terms no matter what he did.
It's hard to be a ACLU hating, philosophically Libertarian, socially liberal, fiscally conservative, scientifically grounded, agnostic, porn admiring gun owner who believes in self determination.
