There was another thread about this about a year ago (on another forum) and almost immediately people started bagging on Cooper as the 'choice' for the role. This was before they even knew who the director would be. So the conversation went through all sorts of turns as the cast/crew evolved. Early on there were people bagging on Bradley Cooper & others joined in to bad mouth him. Once the fact that it was HE who wanted to do the movie and pushed it to production companies and then made some efforts to get Eastwood to replace Spielberg afterwards people quickly changed their tune. Other then liking a few movies he's in and the fact that my wife has a bit of a crush on the guy I know little of the guy... other than this. Given that limited info I'd say he's an alright dude so I wanted to get the details out early in this conversation to avoid being sidetracked by a bunch of immature name calling and judging of someone most don't know the first thing about. Funny how some feel the need to attack those who are successful only because they're not happy with themselves. Anyway, back on topic here, I too am excited to see this movie. I'm going to keep my expectations low because it is Hollywood after all but I still want to see it. Even if it isn't amazing it sure beats another animated movie with overpaid voice actors doing fart humor for 2hrs and raking in the dough which as become the status quo for Hollywood.

If I remember correctly I read an article that talked about how Bradley Cooper bought the movie rights to AS shortly after the book came out. Basically he was quoted saying that it was a story that needed to be told and that he didn't want somebody else to buy it and f*** it up. Hearing that gave me faith that it'll due Chief Kyle justice, even before Clint was rumored to direct. Now that Clint's in the director's chair for real, I'm really excited for it...I think they'll do a good job.
