That about sums it up. The question is, what do we do about it. We do not have the resources our alliances to win this with a military campaign. We are not going to convince them to embrace western democratic principles.

We can bankrupt the ME if we develope our own domestic energy production. But that leaves 500 million Muslims in N. Africa and SW Asia.

When a people have declared our country and our religions offensive to them and they have no problem providing aid to the largest collection of international terrorists, I really don't understand why we feel we need to treat them as anything but enemies. If the power balance was reversed we would be wiped out or subjugated. They are absolutely nothing without our protection and forbearance.

If we want oil we should take it. If they cause problems swat them. Mostly we should let them kill each other unless they come out of their sandbox.

I've never gone for the energy independent line. The less we use, the cheaper it even becomes for others like China to use it. The EU has proven that they will turn a blind eye to almost anything (The Ukraine) when it comes to stable energy supplies. Unless everyone gets off the ME oil... and that won't happen.

But let's say it did. They just leave us alone? Sure.... Now they are impoverished and pissed off and the shieks don't have the money to pay them off or smooth over stuff with money. Sure, we won't be directly dabbling in their business, but these goat molesters will still have the Crusades to b!tch about- and let's nor forget Israel. Gonna just pull the rug out from under them? Maybe you can in 50 years when the whole Nazi thing is a memory of a memory.

The only solution is a 30 Years type war between the Sunni and Shia branches that bleeds them all so dry that they finally figure out it ain't 700AD anymore and move on to the 20th century.

It's either that or they WMD terrorism us so hard that we go full Punic War and Carthage their asses.

The woman is exactly right. By far most Muslims and Arabs are great people and until they get sick of their psycho cousins, they won't be able to keep nice things...
