Exactly!! If for no other reason, we owe it to future generations and the preservation of America.

All the attention given NFA in the current political climate is doing more damage than help, IMO.
Couldn't agree more, nothing good can come from this... Now if 2014/2016 election outcomes turn out favorable for pro 2a candidates (I know at least 1 potential candidates like sporting a LaRue Tactical hat and actively attempts to recruit gun manufacturers to move to his state) then it will be time to go full throttle on the offensive. A dose of patience here is needed.

    Not reading this thread through.

Those of you that think drawing attention to the "NFA Loophole" as it will be eventually called, is a good idea...well..you're a bit delusional.

The cost on the 'tax' is to the point where it's nearly a non-issue for most folks that can afford firearms. It's not a big deal.

You're only going to hurt the NFA crowd. Mark my words.

Maybe my thoughts on the matter will change following detail, however, given the past history of NFA, I believe that the largest issue is that action has not coming from a large/funded/well reasoned and legally backed argument.

The failure of a poorly planned/poorly executed offense does not mean that forward motion is impossible or that the enemy position is invincible.

I agree. The only thing that can change this is a large movement by the NRA with political clout, lawyers, and money.

NFATCA didn't have the clout to engage the ATF about this and they got us rule 41P

    Just a question.

The $200 tax is written into the NFA of 34 is it not?? So wouldn't that require congress to modify in order to change the tax, hence the reason it hasn't been modified already??

Yes, and then it becomes open to all sorts of changes. And all of them are pretty much bad including removing the 1934 NFA completely. It's the one we want to screw with LAST after we have gotten rid of the "sporter clause" in the 1968 GCA.

    White House SBR petition

I'm fairly new to the support of gun rights so if my thoughts on this are silly, I apologize in advance. However, in my opinion they would not jump from $200 to $4k in one year.

I know we all think that these people are idiots but don't underestimate how smart they actually are when it comes to taking our rights and having you feeling thankful for what they've left you.

They would increase it incrementally over a period of time that's just small enough to make all of us, myself included, say, "We shouldn't have drawn any attention to it, just ignore it and appreciate that they're still allowing this for a tax of only $400, $900, etc." And the stories you tell your grandkids about your gun days will sound like the stories we all hear about people buying thompsons from the sears catalog.
