With all the NG units being brought back from the Middle East, why they aren't being deployed along the border mystifies me. I mean isn't that exactly what something like a "National Guard" exists for in the first place? And maybe those members of the NG who have health care issues could then get immediate attention from the same places that provide for recently arrived illegals.

That is the sad reality. Politics 101 - Create and / or facilitate a crisis so you can declare the need for emergency funding to attempt to address the problem. Actually resolving problems ENDS any revenue stream.

This is going to sound crazy....well, I hope it IS crazy.

Using your theory of creating a crisis, think longer term. Think beyond the immediate approval for funding and look at the power grab. We all know it no longer matters what party has their man in the WH because...well that's obvious. So there's no real sense of urgency defined by political terms.

Why would anyone want to pump steroids into nationalism and xenophobia? What else can a well funded, seemingly impenetrable barrier be used for besides keeping people out?

I imagine there's already a solution in the chute and we aren't going to like it. Think Patriot Act, only focused on entry and departure of our country. And the second one...that's what scares me.

This isn't going to be resolved while Obama is in office. The Rinos want illegals so they can have cheap labor.
The dems want endless supply of voters. Plus organizations like La Raza claim they have been robbed of their land
and are dead set on taking back what they see is theirs. Add this with a president who thinks America is a colonial tyrant and owes reparations to the world and we have a recipe for disaster.
