Couldn't give you the exact gas port size, but will say my ddm4v7lw runs perfectly with an h2 buffer and blue sprinco when using pmc bronze and m855 - tested last round holdopen many times with the bronze to make sure the setup would work. Won't run wolf steel without constant undergas failures (never hold open, often FTF), but I haven't tried with stock springs and h buffer. DD does say not to run steel, so....

The V5LW is, in my opinion, one of their best offerings. Mine runs brilliantly on my A5 equipped lower, and set up with an H2 on a BCM Blem lower - I'm surprisingly accurate with a TR24RT mounted on it too.

Have 4,000 rounds through my V5 since last year.
Running a Sprinco Blue/H2 combo. Has no problem with everything from Tula to MK262. Good choice. I do think I'll be ditching the 12" quad rail soon for a 13" KMR to drop some weight.

Oh yipes, they are on the same rung as Bravo Company and Colt.

Do yourself a favor and sell it and buy a Bushmaster!!

On a more serious note, a very good, professional grade rifle. (They are seriously on the same rung as Colt and BCM...that's a good thing)

Your upper receiver group is on it's way. What are you going to do? Send it back if the consensus was on the negative side? Attach it to your lower, lube it with good quality lubricant, shoot it with good quality 5.56 Nato Spec ammo, with good quality magazines, and then give us a fitness report. It's that simple.

Have a DDM4v5 LW full rifle I ordered from them around December 2013, if i recall correctly. The lower was out of spec at the pistol grip screw hole and the castle nut on the new replaced lower is improperly staked, among other diminutive details, but the upper was/is good to go.

Thanks guys, sounds like I made a good choice. I did a ton of research so I was pretty sure there was nothing to worry about. Mainly was just hoping it wouldn't be overgassed like the MK18 seems to be. I'm going to the range Friday. Hopefully the upper shows up Thursday. If so I'll have a range report.

An overgassed middy still shoots really controllably, and the LW 16" isn't something that screams for a can the same way as the Mk18 does.

Also, having that nice long handguard will certainly assist with the controllability. And MK18s are regularly hosts for suppressors, at least far more so than the DDV5 LW, so gas port sizing is much more important and noticeable in many cases.

I have a regular V5 rifle and it has been 100% reliable with the variety of ammo I have fed it.
