Honestly when I first saw the picture of the "sink hole", especially the beveled edges and perfect circular circumference I thought of the scene from Predator Vs. Aliens (2004) where the Predators fire a laser from their ship in orbit into the ice to melt a path down to the pyramid for their safari.

The "game over" quote is actually from Aliens (1986) spoken by Bill Paxton's character Pvt. Hudson when he looses his shit after their rescue craft crashes due to a Xenomorph slaughtering the pilot.
