    $958 Quality Budget Build

Just got the final part ordered and I think I did pretty well.

I wanted a lightweight rifle for my wife on a budget that still had quality parts. So I scoured the web and The Exchange and found some great deals.

    Lower:
    Charles Daly Stripped Lower $50
    PSA Magpul LPK $60
    Magpul MOE Stock $57
    BCM Buffer Kit $55

    Upper:
    BCM Stripped Upper $65
    Colt M16 BCG $144
    Colt Charging Handle $25.50
Sionics Melonite 16" Lightweight w/ gas tube $205
    BattleComp 1.0 $100
Midwest Industries Lightweight M-LOK rail $164
Wilson Combat Low Profle Gas Block $32.50

I will be using an Aimpoint T-1 from another rifle.

I will post pictures throughout the build as they come in. Thanks for looking!

I snagged a couple of those Charles Daly stripped lowers, they worked very well.

Yes, fit and finish was great. Fits on my BCM upper and others that I have.

I used a coupon on Midway USA that got me $45 off an order over $225. I threw in a gas block and it put me over the $225.

The code is CRPA14452 if anyone wants to use it.

I will probably pull some Magpuls from another rifle that hasn't been getting much use. I'm still not sure though, that's why I didn't post anything for it.

If you are going to spend $958, must buy a Daniel Defense for a few hundred more.

Someone posted the deal in "The Official Where Can I Get It" thread on page 562 from Midway USA. The sale is over and it is back to $169

I wouldn't really be gaining a whole lot, and this is more interesting to me than buying a complete rifle. I have been wanting to build an upper from stripped parts for awhile. The PSA lower parts kit is the "lowest quality" part on this thing and they were surprisingly pretty good. The trigger still has a decent clean break to it, and the fit and finish on the lower with the LPK was spot on.

Sionics has had rave reviews on here and on YouTube and I'm pretty excited to see how accurate it is with good ammo. I get the "latest and greatest" M-LOK rail that is one of the lightest rails on the market right now at 8.2oz. I have no doubts that, if I put this thing together correctly, that it will be able to perform on the same level as a DD or BCM. Not to mention probably lighter than either has to offer right now.

That's not to say that a complete DD or BCM is a great package. I should mention that I just purchased a BCM RECCE KMR MK2 for my father and the thing is phenomenal. But to me, building and putting work into something makes it more worth it.
