Well, the NRA has set the Libs off.

NRA has posted a video "suggesting" that kids be taught gun safety to the point of making it mandatory to be sent to the next grade (which I don't agree with; I do the safety portion). Well, saw this thing on Bing and the libs are just going off like a cheap roman candle.

    http://www.slate.com/blogs/xx_factor..._required.html

Johnson stops short of suggesting that the government should subsidize AK ownership for men who don't currently have enough money to properly terrorize suburban moms at the local Chipotle, but he does recommend public schools as an excellent place to find a captive audience for this everyone-gets-a-gun mentality:
    http://www.examiner.com/article/ever...shooting-tests

AlterNet.org said Johnson's video was "published as part of the NRA's recent efforts to appeal to a younger and more diverse audience through its NRA News Commentator program and millennial-oriented NRA Freestyle online television network. The commentary videos have frequently featured bizarre and offensive content."

As examples of that, AlterNet offered the following:

A July 18 commentary referenced the Holocaust to promote the baseless fear that the government will confiscate lawfully held private firearms.

A July 7 commentary claimed that laws regulating gun ownership are " equally as unconstitutional" as Jim Crow laws.

A June 30 commentary insisted that the media stop calling a man who used a gun to injure or kill 11 of his 19 victims during a May 23 rampage in Isla Vista, California, a "gunman" or "shooter" because several other people were killed and injured by means other than a gun during the attack.

A May 30 commentary warned viewers of a "trick" where media figures "race to label anything with a gun as a shooting, because they know how much more attention they are going to get with that word."
Interesting to note, the Examiner link I posted, the author had mentioned that since Australia has banned all private gun-ownership that murder had fallen over 59%. That part is not there anymore. Wish I had taken a screen shot.

It's hard to be a ACLU hating, philosophically Libertarian, socially liberal, fiscally conservative, scientifically grounded, agnostic, porn admiring gun owner who believes in self determination.

I'd vote for subsidizing firearms, the country would probably be better off in the long term lol

You might have just seen a different commentary on The Examiner, by a different author. (Boy, they REALLY didn't like it, I guess.) This link http://www.examiner.com/article/ever...ense-criticism has the Australian murder rate figure, along with this gem:
"If an example of how some laws or constitutional items become obsolete and even counterproductive, there is no better one than the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. This was demonstrated recently when President Obama proposed to increase gun control, and was defeated by the House of Representatives -- where many owe their seats thanks to campaign contributions from the National Rifle Association."

The NRA should post as much provocative stuff as possible in the hopes that it will give just one liberal and aneurysm. Its for the children you know.

It's good to have the enemy pissed off and scared, but we need them about ten degrees past that all the way to permanently defeated and non-functioning.

I live in an extremely liberal town. Oddly enough, I am invited annually to give gun safety talks at the local elementary school. I have been asked to teach gun safety and hunter education at at local non-profit "institute" run by even more liberal minded folks than the school. Under the guise of "safety" you can reach a lot of young minds that would otherwise grow up thinking guns are bad. While I am an NRA member and huge supporter, I make no mention of them when I first approach groups that might want or need gun safety talks. The easiest approach is usually being a state hunter education instructor (notice the adult in the photo is a "conservation officer". If you get folks interested in guns, the importance of the NRA will work itself out later.

These responding articles do point out the Liberals perceived reality of actual reality. Or maybe the different mindsets of the Coasts and the fly-over America.

I agree, but the permanently defeated and non-functioning part will probably never happen. IMHO, its kind of like saying something like terrorism can be permanently defeated and non-functioning.
IMHO, most of the time things in life are won in the preparation , so what the NRA, gun owners do now in the lull between the battles will most likely determine who wins the future battles. One thing for sure IMO, the numbers and involvement of our younger gun owners will be crucial for the future of the gun culture in this country.

I have discovered that "liberals" mindsets and logic can vary with geography. I suspect I'd get along with most "liberals" in Alaska as well as Montana. I've met some "conservatives" from other states I didn't much care for.
