Shit.... If was at the airport and I saw some nut doing this crap, I'd be freaking out... wondering if he was getting ready to start a shooting spree.

If he was rear slung and not handling the rifle, I'd just keep an eye on him. If he flagged me or a family member we'd probably have a real problem. If you are going to be an "activist" the idea is to win people over and make them consider your ideas.

If you can open carry SAFELY in an airport without putting people at risk and scaring kids then you have accomplished successful activism. Especially if you can calmly and sanely explain your views in a non aggressive manner.

And in this case he wasn't just exercising rights because he didn't go to the airport just for coffee, he went there to get attention.

And if you ARE just exercising your open carry rights, it is YOUR responsibility to do it in a safe manner that doesn't violate the rights of others or put them in danger.

These are the minimum considerations for open carry.

Support side single sling hang is the best. It doesn't require you to move, adjust your rifle to sit, and it is a very non-theating pose. Your neck may not like you after awhile, but your image, and the one for the rest of us, will. Even samurai back in the day had carry edict that they strictly followed.

There really needs to be a damn guide for people who do OC with their long arms in public just so they don't look like attention whore rejects (not that they are) and doesn't freak the middle ground that will kill OCing for even pistols for us. Looking at how the Swiss and the Israelis do it is a start.

That would be tilting windmills. Hard enough to get the "basic safe gun handling - only four rules to remember" message out to all the retards on the planet and that is fundamental Guns 101. I can't imagine trying to promote safe and responsible open carry to the same problematic gun owners who don't understand "Keep finger off trigger, don't point guns AT people, etc."
