If the JCS had any balls, they all would resign! What a friggin shame!

WASHINGTON – About 550 Army majors, including some serving in Afghanistan, will soon be told they have to leave the service by next spring as part of a budget-driven downsizing of the service.

I'm thinking that may be one of the biggest blows you could give to a deployed Company.
BTW, as if the suck fest couldn't get any worse, I would be concerned where my bosses head was at for the rest of my tour.

Everybody gets a command if they wait long enough.

The real turds just have to do it in TRADOC. Only difference.

HRC is always accepting "volunteers for drawdown."

The difference is that when you drop your REFRAD, it goes straight through now instead of coming back with a set of immediate orders to theater attached to it.

You actually don't have to do it now.

"Branch Qualifying" assignments are now called "Key Developmental" assignments... instead of "a successful command" you now can check that block with "a successful... advisor tour, division staff, weird hiding place, etc"

Yes... if we don't cut off these Captains and Majors now, you will have a Battalion Commander who never had a company.

(I'm sure it will still happen somewhere in the next 10 years)

Today is the last day of my terminal leave. I was an FA guy.

I don't believe that our branch actually promoted someone that didn't have command.

An Officer can always resign, the difference is in the asking of particular year groups and offering incentives.
