If the gas mask prevents him from getting a proper sight picture through an ACOG, how is he going to get a proper sight picture through irons?

On topic with the rest of the thread: another Aimpoint vote. Pick a model, they all work well.

And you'd be wrong, but that doesn't surprise me since you obviously didn't read what I wrote.

Go back and READ what my posts, I never said the ACOG sucked, just that the light-transmission clarity/optics on the S&B is noticeably better when I did look at them side by side. If you don't see the difference, oh well.

That being said the Short Dot was cost prohibitive for me and so *gasp* I went with the ACOG. I also own a Leupold VX-III and a Trij Accu-Point.

Given all those options that's how "bad" I think the ACOG is.

How do ACOG's do when you're sitting under a roof covered bench, pointing at a target that's in bright daylight? Isn't it hard to see reticle?

No, it's fine for that. In fact, I usually tape over the fibre-optic for a sharper reticle (more precise zero), and usually have the fibre optic 2/3 covered during normal daylight use.
