Sorry for the thread slight drift. Where are these elusive M&P 45 midsized threaded barrels for sale? I have been searching but haven't been able to find them.

Storm-Lake is the only company i'm aware of that manufactures them for the 4" M&P45. I have one of their barrels for my gun, and run an AAC Tirant on it. Works perfectly fine.
The barrel does seem to take a long time to get from Storm-Lake as I'm guessing they don't make a lot of them. My personal one took 6 months, my friends took 9.
9mm barrel? No problem, full sized M&P45 barrel? Cake. But that 4" 45 barrel is a tough one.
Pics, cause it makes people happy. Both guns sport Storm-Lake barrels

Thanks Sevin. I had looked on the SL site and just double checked but they only had the full size barrel as an option for the M&P 45. I'll give them a shout to see if they still make the mid-sized 4" barrel.

BTW - nice pistoles. I really like the stippling.

I called Storm Lake. They no longer make the M&P 45 4" threaded barrel. The rep said they don't have it on their plans to carry that barrel again. My hunt continues. I may have to buy a M&P full size to be able to run my Ti-Rant on a M&P 45.

I don't own an M&P, other than the 22...and I'm assuming if it was this easy somebody would've already mentioned it.

Can you put the longer barrel in the compact version and shoot it?

For instance...in Glock .40, you can put the G35 competition length barrel in both a G35 and a full size G22. You can also put the compact G23 barrel in both the G23 and the subcompact G27. Same thing works in the 9mm lineup, with the G34/G17 and the G19/G26.

When I bought threaded .40 barrels and 9mm conversion barrels, I didn't worry about buying specific subcompact barrels. I just let the compact barrels stock out an extra .5".

I had seen posts somewhere it would not work. I had thought there was a problem with the chamber side of the barrels but maybe it was just the length binding up the barrel so it wouldn't fit.

After reading your post, I thought I would look into it again. I found two posts on other forums where people did cut down a full size barrel and it worked. Apparently the extra length just won't let the barrel drop down in the slide. I will buy a storm lake full size barrel and give it a try. If it doesn't drop in I will get my smith to work his magic. I'll post my results.

Question, will a M&P 45 factory sights clear the top of the osprey? What about Crimson Trace laser grips?

The CT grips on my Glock do clear my 45Osprey, as does the Glock light. The sights do not.

After reading your post I got curious and started swapping parts around. No hammers were used in installation of the full-size Storm Lake barrel into the M&P45c.

Regarding the sights over top of the Osprey, no. Sight picture is slightly obscured. Not feeling ambitious enough to measure, but it's less than 1/16" I would guess.

ETA: no range time/live fire in this config, but slide moved back & forth as expected and barrel did not seem any "looser" than the factory barrel. Don't know if I'll get to test this any time soon, it's a silly configuration I don't need but was curious about.
