Well, that changes things. I was thinking about getting 2 of the DD rears and 1 front for my two BCM uppers that just came in.

What else is out there in the fixed variety?

I know Troy has their fixed stuff but I don't really like them.

Then there's the LMT rear and the Larue rear.

Yes. It wouldn't have a flex design though. Just a pic shaped wedge threaded on one side like many other rail attach devices already have.

What is needed here is a good BUOS, also known as: back up optical sight...
Sad when a T1 is stronger than a fixed iron sight huh?

Gear Sector or con the BAD LEVER boys into this project...

It was mounted to an irons only 11.5 "truck gun"

MBUS PRO is melonite steel. I might give one of those a try. Looks a little nutty with a carry handle though...

Everything Fixed is Aluminum as far as I know.

While I'm sure markm would love to use a FSB i'm pretty sure that the length of the handguard and the positioning of the gas block precludes it. I would give the MBUS pros a shot. Beyond that, hook yourself up with a professional machine shop to role a custom billet front sight.

We all want our gear to stand up to hard use, but to say that there are 'NO good rail mounted front sights' is taking it a bit far. It was probably a fantastic sight up until you broke it.

How far did it fall? How did it land? Could you reasonably have expected a sight that was designed and / or constructed differently to survive intact or at least usable?

For what it's worth, I'm happy with the MBUS Pro on my latest build. I'll admit that I skipped doing the destructive testing procedure myself, so maybe someone more informed can chime in on how drop testing works during the development process.

Time for a flat top upper. Or mount an aimpoint on the carry handle.... use tracers???

Ok I'm done being mouthy...that kind of sucks it bending like that. I'll second whoever said get a machine shop to cut you one out of steel. Some of them ol boys are pretty sharp. They might think of something you haven't.

I haven't dropped mine on concrete, but I did drop it onto a hardwood maple floor. Handled it like a boss, unlike the hardwood. I wouldn't say I pound the piss out of them, but they hit the dirt pretty hard during run & gun work. I run the fixed HK style Troy's.

I replaced the Centurion C4 sights on my Noveske not long ago when I decided to go magnified optic instead of EOTech for it. Put on a set of MBUS Pros and really like them. They don't lock (though they do set solidly in the up position) so I feel very confident they would fold prior to breaking or bending a wing.

Not doing a drop test on that rifle to prove it though.
