That was my initial though as well. A few people die around here each year from a heat attack during deer hunting just from "buck fever". Certainly running from an active shooter is that much more intense.

Well if the bystander was shot, it had to be a stray round from a police weapon as the perp was running around with a BB gun!

As a follow up to this story I was reading another article just a minute ago. Looks like the gun the man was brandishing was an air rifle he was possibly going to buy that Walmart sells. I really hope this isn't a great big over reaction by bystanders and LEO's involved in all of this.

Why on Earth would you argue with cops drawing down on you about whether the gun in your hands is real or not? Put it the F down and do what you are told. If it's an innocent mistake, everything will be sorted out without bloodshed.

If the latest reports are correct, a man paid with his life for his stupidity and it is no one's fault but his own. I feel sorry for the loss his family has experienced, but don't try to defend the indefensible.

This is a very sad case of why people need firearms education in this Country.

I blame the stupid 911 caller who gave the police bad information. They were on edge from the start of the encounter, however, they should know how to ID an Air Rifle when they see one.

"Pointing it at Children" - "Trying to load the rifle" -Obviously a Black guy, with 3 kids, holding an Air Rifle in Walmart is dangerous.

Sure he should have complied, but if his back was turned I can understand turning to see what is going on behind him. Fully not expecting to get shot for buying an Air Rifle.

SAD SAD SAD statement on the pussification of this Country.

Was near that area last week.
The local stations were reporting that the woman died from a heart attack, and that he didn't comply with the cops.

Interestingly enough, they didn't report that he picked the Air Rifle up at WalMart, of course the daily caller didn't mention that Air Rifles can kill you too.
Winning may not be everything, but the endorsements are better.

One sure did in this instance....

A BOY of ten was shot dead in a game of cowboys and indians as he and a friend played with his father's airgun.

Rhys Johnson was fatally wounded when the weapon went off, blasting pellets into his chest.
