I couldn't find anything on here about Shaneen Allen. If you don't know, she is a resident of Pennsylvania with a concealed carry permit. She made the mistake of driving into New Jersey with her weapon. She was pulled over and informed the police officer that she had a permit and a gun. Of course, she was promptly arrested and jailed. She is a mother with two young sons, with no prior criminal history. You can read more at these links, or just Google her name:

I understand that most of us will be shaking our heads because, for one, she thought it was a good idea to go to New Jersey, two, she thought it was a good idea to go to New Jersey with a gun, and three, she did not know the laws, and ignorance of the law is not a defense. However, I think most of us would also agree that it is unreasonable to give this woman the punishment she is facing—a minimum of 3 years on a felony charge.
I personally am going to donate to her defense fund, found here: http://gogetfunding.com/project/shan...fund#/comments
From her defense fund page:If you are sympathetic, donate as well, or spread the word if you can.Despite the fact that Shaneen Allen possesses a License to Carry Firearms issued by the City of Philadelphia…
Despite the fact that Allen has been trained in firearm safety and passed an NRA handgun safety course…
Despite the fact that Allen voluntarily presented her carry license to the police in conjunction with a routine traffic stop, as per her training…
New Jersey is doing its best to turn Shaneen Allen into a convicted felon facing a State Prison term of a minimum-mandatory 3-5 years with no chance of parole.
What heinous offense did Shaneen Allen — a hard-working single mother of two, with no prior criminal record — do to deserve such a fate? Last October, she travelled with her Pennsylvania licensed handgun loaded with lawfully purchased, low penetration self defense ammunition, into New Jersey.
