Form 5320.20 -Application to Transport Interstate

Anyone have information on how long it is taking to obtain approval on the 5320.20 form? I have the opportunity to take a Urban Markmanship class at the end of September and would like to take my SBR from my home of record in Missouri to the class in Kansas.

I can tell you that you may get it done a lot quicker than 6 weeks. For instance, the last ones I did:

    Faxed: 7/18/14
    Approved: 7/23/14
    Received: 7/26/14

I didn't mention any special circumstances or ask for expedited service in any way. Just faxed them in. Actually faxed forms for the remainder of 2014, and then another set for 1/1/15-12/31/15. All were handled in the same timeframe.

What is the fax #? According to the form I found on-line, it was two originals with wet ink signatures mailed to the NFA branch.

Thats good to hear on the turnaround.

I've been procrastinating on sending some forms in for a hog hunt in the fall.

I too would appreciate the fax number..... My google-fu came up with this number: (304) 616-4501, and to ATTN: Your Examiner. But if someone could confirm the number that would be awesome.

It's the normal NFA Branch number, but the last digit is a "1", so: 304-616-4501

I actually faxed two copies...so two forms (3 SBRs on each), for two time periods, and then two copies...eight pages total. I explained that in the cover sheet to prevent any confusion.

I figured with the paper copies, you send two, they keep one and then sign the other and send it back. By faxing two copies, I eliminated them having to manually make copies.

Remember, you can request up to a full year in each form, so don't just fill it out for the class...go ahead and ask for something like 9/15/14-9/14/15. I asked for 8/1/14-12/31/14 and then 1/1/15-12/31/15, with the plan to send a request each fall for the next year from now on. They approved both sets of forms, and sent them back in two envelopes. One with both forms for one set of 3 SBRs, and one with the other (instead of splitting them by time period requested).

ETA: I didn't put them to ATTN anybody, as I have forms approved by about a half dozen examiners so far this year.

I did one in may that took about two weeks door to door as well. Still plan for 6 weeks (in other words get them out TODAY) but reality should be quicker.

Shouldn't take more than two weeks. They turned around 5 forms for me in about 2 weeks back in May 2013. The fastest turn around time I've ever had was 3 hours but at the time I was calling from a 202 area code.

Am I understanding that this form allows to to travel back and forth between States how much you like in a given year time frame?
