There was a guy a few years ago that did FSB cutouts on some NSR rails that was awesome. I would like to have some rails done that way.

Couldn't disagree more. I've mashed rails and rail mounted front sights. And last month, my 10.5 fell over leaning on the coffee table, and the aimpoint went over 10 MOA out of whack. This was in a wilcox mount... so it wasn't some flemsy set up.

I've been able to torque the front sights (on these modern FF rails) out and back into zero. I can do it and watch the sights go in and out of reconciliation with the RDS. There really isn't a rail mounted front sight that can stand up to rugged use and impact like a forged steel FSB. Believe me... I looked after I mashed one of my rail mounted sights.

You have a very hot item sticking out of the top of the rifle. completely unnecessary these days.
Even without the FSB you still have the worst part of all--the hot barrel.

Every bad burn I ever got was from teh barrel not the FSB.

I see no problem with an FSB. Very rugged, very serviceable front sight system. Good option if you think that iron sights are a useful component of your rifle use. I don't.

Some people think FSB is anachronistic. I think irons sights in general are pointless, especially for civilian use.

I kinda of like having an FSB and either a fixed or folded rear sight as a back up to my RDS.. I have the Troy Delta rails on 2 of my rifles and they work fine

I agree... most robust and error free front sight is a fixed FSP. Run them on all mine except one pistol upper, which came from the factory with a FF rail. I use both fixed and flip rear BUIS.

    ^ This.

I guess if a guy really hates having the front sight base in the middle of a rail, or near where he can burn his hands an installation of a FSB near the muzzle might work (obviously with no gas port). I've seen Noveske offer a barrel like this and it is kind of intriguing.

I really like the old DD rail ( think Vickers ) and Surefire mounted light in front. Solid set great location to work light. I have a Colt pencil barrel I hope to set up the same. Been looking for rail for a while. Wanted the Centerion based on Will pushing its technology.

But if I see a RISII cut out. I'll have to suck it up.

I love my RDS... but after having it whack out of zero, I just don't completely trust it. I think I've spent too much time on long distance and precision shooting... to where I demand the repeatability of irons out of any/every other sight system.
