Griffin Flash Hider - Need User Feedback

So I am looking for a flash hider that has some compensating abilities.... NOT a comp with some flash hiding abilities (i.e. battlecomp, FSC556). Not looking for a debate here as I have my reasons for why I am moving away from "do it all comps". A muzzle device that is primarily a flash hider but does control muzzle flip is a very attractive option for me and am looking for user feedback because there is not much info on them on the interwebs yet.

It appears there are only two such products on the market. The Griffin Armament Compensating Flash Hider (not to be confused with their FlashComp) which can be found here:
    http://www.griffinarmament.com/M4SD-...p/xhp556fh.htm

The other is the PWS Triad:
    http://primaryweapons.com/muzzledevices/triad/

I've been able to find a couple threads on forums that refer to the Triad but so far have found nothing on the Griffin. It sounds like the Triad does a good job at flash suppression. As good or better than the A2 but that the downward push may be slightly too strong, driving the gun down rather than just keeping it flat.

I want to know more about the Griffin. Does it have this same issue of too much downward drive? How does flash compare to an A2? Also, how does side blast and noise compare to an A2?

While you are looking check out the AFAB-Mini. Decent flash control, muzzle control and not ear splitting loud.

I have experience with both of these devices, but realize that they are not a comp or a brake and while they do offer some muzzle control it is not as effective as a true comp or brake.

I am a huge fan of Griffin Armament products, the Flash Hider is a good device and is superior than the A2 in all aspects besides cost. The Flash Comp is better at recoil and muzzle management than the Flash Hider but it is a louder device.

My dad has a Triad on his 16" carbine and it does a good job as well, I personally think the Griffin has a slight edge on muzzle control and it is also suppressor compatible.

I am also strongly looking at the Griffin Flash Hider. It looks similar to my favorite previously available FH the Surefire FH212-A

I cam to the realization that the A2 birdcage honestly makes the most sense right now. It offers all the properties I want at a very low price point.

Has anyone done a large round count review of this yet? I haven't seen a response to the old thread about this from a couple months ago when people were starting to pick them up. Heard a couple first impression reports but never anything long term. I had been really looking forward to one.

I don't have any experience with the Griffin but you may want to take a look at the White Sound Defense Fossa-556. I saw this at a Pat McNamara low light class in December and was impressed. We compared it to a standard A2 and a BCM Comp 1.0 (which I had on my gun) shooting 55 grain PMC and it was far superior to both in terms of flash suppression. The comp benefits weren't as noticeable as something like a Battle Comp but that wasn't the design purpose.

I was given one by Will from WSD and it replaced my BCM Comp. I liked it enough to purchase another one which replaced a BCM Comp on another rifle. Low light shooting convinced me a flash hider > comp for my use/needs. There are a few videos on their site and Mr. Guns N Gear has a review on YouTube. It isn't cheap but I believe it is effective.

This. Flash Hider that fights muzzle flip. It works. You don't need to throw money at the problem, unless you don't have an A2 in which case you only need to throw a little money.

I read this awhile ago, http://vuurwapenblog.com/2014/01/12/...ce-comparison/. I ended up keeping the A2, it's hard to beat when all is considered. I looked at all kinds of muzzle devices and the A2 does actually give some compensation. The test was pretty good and is a long read and has lots of video and pics with bar graph conclusions for neanderthals like myself.

I remember reading here that the GA Flash Comp was specifically redesigned with people like Stickman's input and testing which lead the the removal of the vent row facing directly upward to get rid of the downward 'push'. Otherwise people just claim it plain works as advertised.
