I wanted a rail with a FSB cutout. I used the Omega X Rail.

    It works.

After some research and talking with a few guys at the range yesterday, I am leaning heavily towards the BCM KMR13 setup:

    http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-K.../bcm-kmr13.htm

I assume this means I will have the front sight post removed and I'll want a folding front sight, correct? Any thoughts on which front site to get? I'm honestly not a huge fan of the stock iron front site so this will be a welcome change anyway.

Sorry for the noob questions. Obviously I'll have a gunsmith do the mods as it is worth the $50 to me to make sure it is done right.

It won't be removed, it'll just be cut down so it can fit under the rail while still acting as a gas block. Magpul MBUS, MBUS Pro, or Troy irons all work well and will fit most any need.

wow...tremendous changes from your initial want list. Might want to make a list of things your are looking for in a fighting carbine and people can then give you advice on how best to achieve said things?

The rail and a better sling setup are the last two items. The number of choices are a bit overwhelming for those, especially the rail. Choosing the rifle itself was easy, as I knew to stick with Colt, BCM, DD, and KAC based on threads I've read here.

I've been looking for a free float rial with front sight cut out for my Colt 6720. Seems like Danile, Centurion and Troy are the only options. I believe the military uses a Daniel Defense for to free float the 6720?

I have DD RIS II on my ARs, wouldn't change them for any other. I have had Omega X and Lite, both fantastic. But the RIS II are my favorite.

Not on a 6720 but DD RIS II rails are used.

Well I just ordered the newest parts for my colt 6920. So much for the DD rail. I wound up going with Bravo Company KMR 13 inch rail, Noveske QD end plate, Magpul MS4 DUAL QD SLING GEN2 BLK, Bravo Company GUNFIGHTER KEYMOD QD Slings Mount, and MBUS PRO back-up site front. I hope to have it all put together in the next couple weeks. Eventually I'll get a trigger job and I should have a decent build to go with aimpoint pro, surefire light, and BCM Mod 4 charging handle already on there. I'll post a pic when it is done.

My first DD rail I ran was a DD omega. That is the plug and play one you speak of. It's rock solid and holds true. I had a 12 inch one and it was awesome. You don't have to adjust or change anything on your rifle you just swap it out just like normal hand guards.

I will never get to train as much as I want to. So when I do I need to make it count.
