The name really confused me at first because I thought it's an M&P Compact chambered for .22 cal. In the photos, it looks like a full-size with short barrel/slide. I guess they shrunk the whole thing and it has nothing to do with the M&P Compact line of pistols. Their marketing guys sure like to screw around.

    Wow.

    A G19 sized M&P.

    From Umarex...

Why can't S&W figure this out if Umarex can?

Umarex didn't make it. Smith did. I asked our rep if this was a precursor to a new frame size, but he didn't think it was.

    LOL

    That makes it even worse.

"Look we made the frame size that you want. But we aren't going to make any of our fighting handguns in this frame size AND it doesn't match any of our other offerings to use as an understudy weapon.

So you suck and we hate you."

The other M&P 22 is made by Umarex, I used to have one. That is why I ASSuMEd that this one was also made by Umarex.

I think he meant that S&W came up with the design (slide size and such) not Walther/Umarex. Walther does indeed make the M&P22, but does not make this new compact.

Looks to be a perfect size for my 8 year old son to train on.

    S&W makes a g19 sized gun...m&p45c

I like the size of the mp9 compact, IMO it's what a compact pistol should be.
