Vice News: Accidental Propaganda or In-The-Trenches Report?

I have been watching Vice News (Vice News started December 2013) on a regular basis for about 6 months. A few times I have noticed a refreshing tendency to include raw footage and what seems to be "the truth". The other day I watched this report:

Bulldozing the Border Between Iraq and Syria: The Islamic State (Part 5)
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TxX_THjtXOw

Now that guy's rifle... looks like MINE. I don't mean the same design as my 6920. I don't mean similar optics choices. I mean it looks like my pristine babied rifle. It looks like the rifle of a pencil pushing recreational shooter couch potato. No scratches, no wear, no adversity.

Are these guys at vice news filming real material? It sure doesn't look like it in that video. So not only does he have a recognizable M4, I think I saw his sidekick in the back with an M16 and the whole thing looks like Hollywood to me. What is this channel's intention with this imagery? ...to have someone subliminally identify with this black flag? In popaganda terms he is using a "good guy rifle" and he is clean and neat.

The general population may not be able to recognize the fraud, but just the simple presence of that rifle convinces me that this report is manufactured. For me this makes everything they produce.... suspect.

A few months ago I saw this video, and it ALSO seems to contain a subtle disregard for real reporting... whilst trying to pretend to be unbiased. By the end of the video I found myself with ZERO trust for the young woman reporter with the wrist tattoo.

Perhaps they simply allow themselves to be used as long as it advances a narrative?

Photographers and film makers routinely use "stock" images and film, particularly low budget publications and productions, further, they also resort to shopping their images, or editing their film in such a manner as to favor their perspective, or project a certain message....It is always nice to see someone. such as yourself, after they have realized just what the scam is, and just how it was worked....

Watch the Vice episodes about climate change.

...then you will learn to discount everything these guys do.

could be new stock from our leader to his brothers ?
Vice IMHO is a typical bleeding heart progressive liberal viewpoint that tries to act like they are not ?

its interesting to watch sometimes but like others they are being used for propaganda and do not even know it most of the time is my view and maybe they do create it ? would not doubt that one bit to get there point across

Agree 100% on the rifle. It looks cleaner than some I've seen when they are new in box. Just to play devil's advocate, this guy acts like a leader of sorts, perhaps a rifle is kept for him exclusively for photo ops and never carried otherwise? Or maybe this and others were captured from an Iraqi depot as never-used, never-issued rifles?

Contra, that's not the only thing wrong here... the body language of the "fighters" just seems all wrong, more Hollywood extra than crazed killer. Everything looks too staged, like a "reality show" or just a lower quality commercial movie. So yeah, I think it's fake.

Sounds like my spider sense was working. I will have to look for the climate change videos. I can image that will be hoot.

I just watched the video about how climate change is causing a lake to rise in the Dominican Republic. The video was heavy on highlighting poverty, and inept government, and how people make poor decisions in order to survive. It was very sketchy on proving the link that it is all due to climate change and, therefore, totally avoidable.

Not one shred... not one mention... that lake Enriquillo’s swelling could possibly be from inept management of the dams, levies and other structures. No mention of the sediments also causing problems. Nope, it has GOT to be climate change. No opinion here, only "climate science" fact.

What a bunch of garbage. Are legitimate climate scientists ashamed when they see videos like this?

I've only watched these guy videos on Liberia, they were good. I thought they were insane to travel to Liberia to report but they were still good stories.

So turns out they are just more fake news, what news is real these days. Ever see the CNN fake Scud Missle coverage from Gulf War I?

Yeah, those were cool, but it comes down to what stuff they can fund - seems like they spent their seed money getting a few really awesome stories, now that they're considered a solid medium, probably going to keep heading downhill.

None of that video looks fake to me, or 'recycled'. They are looting weapons as they go, the Iraqi's have M4s (and A2's). I'm not sure what is so hard to believe about that.

FWIW, the douchenozzle with the sword had a happy switch on his Glock... you can clearly see the jumbo sized back plate on the pistol in the holster on his vest.
