If only they had flipped it onto the other side, we would have been able to see the tell tale slot in the magazine. But the finish looks way too uniform to be a last days of the Wehrmacht manufactured rifle.

Thing is the .22 rimfire versions only have the slot on one side. 2013417122951-ati_stg-44_001_m.jpg
I'd say it's legit, there's a very brief moment where you can see that the receiver slot for the charging handle extends all the way back, where the .22 version is only about 3" long. It also looks to be in very..."surplus" condition in all the right places. Lastly the mag is a bright blued finish where all the .22 mags I see are a dull/flat black.
