Authorities are responding to a report of an officer involved shooting in north St. Louis. It happened just before 1 p.m. Tuesday at McLaran and Riverview outside a market.

Authorities say a man tried to rob the 5-Star Market convenience store with a knife.

The store owner says he got into a dispute with the man.

Police were called but the suspect refused to put down the weapon. He tried to attack police and was shot and killed.

Another perp elects to go out in a blaze of doo-doo.

I don't see this ending any time soon.

Republicans are criticizing efforts by liberal organizers to set up voter registration booths at the site where Missouri teenager Michael Brown was shot and killed by a local police officer.

Reports of the voter registration tables have been reported via liberal activists on social media.

“In front of the makeshift memorial where Mike Brown was killed, they've set up a voter registration table,” tweeted Jessica Lee, a Human rights attorney at the Center For Constitutional Rights wrote on Twitter.

There was a weapon, he will have a witness, and likely on camera, so a very different scenario. Might inflame, might not, and some of that per usual will depend on how crappy a job the media does to use it for ratings, etc.

And that's entirely the point, isn't it? At this juncture the media and the people who stand to gain from ratcheting up the rhetoric are probably going to do everything they can to exploit this.

What a bunch of stupid idiots. 1033 originated under Bill Clinton's Presidency and a militarized internal police force is one of the benchmarks by which you can recognize a tyrannical government.

(I understand 1208 was the precursor which occured in 1990, but that bill was drafted and passed through a Democratic legislature as well)

I guess militarized police is only acceptable at sites like Waco, Ruby Ridge, and Boston. Use it to subdue looters and any other Democratic voting base and you've stepped over a line.

How about we equip store owners with 1033 equipment and tell them lethal force is authorized for defense of property?

Largely wasted effort IMO. We are the state that voted in a Constitutional Amendment for right to farm, even though the right to farm had never been threatened in the first place. Any one who brings up Claire McCaskill as an example of our state somehow becoming more liberal need only look at her Political opponent Todd "Foot in Mouth Disease" Akin.

On the original topic, as clear as the situation is being made by reporters tweets and such, I can't see this exploding into an out of control situation.

How dare those officers shoot and kill that African-American gentleman who came at them after he was armed robbing, oops I mean peacefully protesting by relieving that store owner of goods at the point of a knife!
