Shootings happen a lot more often in the St. Louis area than most people realize. It just happens to be getting more national media attention right now.

One thing that various commentators keep pointing out is that the shootings in Chicago happen day after day after day, but they are seldom if ever reported.

The media is feeding on this like they did that disappeared plane.

Almost immediately after the incident occurred, MSNBC's Christopher Hayes took to Twitter. In an apparent attempt to portray the shooting as unjust, Hayes tweeted that the local "neighborhood [is] now congregating, angry." He added that the upset residents are demanding to know why the cop didn't use a taser instead of shooting the suspect.

My take: somebody, or multiple somebodies, want this to escalate and spread. Is the media a willing stooge to some agent provocateur who might have an agenda? Or is it just a case of "bad news sells" >?

How dare those officers shoot and kill that African-American gentleman who came at them after he was armed robbing, oops I mean peacefully protesting by relieving that store owner of goods at the point of a knife!

Ranked the most dangerous city in the US not long ago. Don't know what the current ranking is, but most have no idea how bad that place is and think of other major cities first.

You are thinking of East St. Louis, the side that sits ironically on Illinois State soil. Just like there is the far more violent Kansas City, MO there is a Kansas City, KS.
