That is a fact and most unfortunate. I consider St. Louis the New Orleans of the North. I was born and raised there and love the area. Great restaurants and great people.
I was a LEO in the Metro East area for 5 years of my career before I transferred up North. Shootings are never front page news.

I seem to recall that St Louis is generally in the top five in any given year....East St. Louis is the most dangerous city in the United States, according to research done by neighborhoodscout.com.
The website ranked the country’s 100 most dangerous cities with at least 25,000 people based on the number of violent crimes per 1,000 residents. The ranking was based on 2012 statistics from the U.S. Census Bureau.
Violent crimes include homicide, forcible rape, armed robbery, and aggravated assault.

"We have to stop demonizing people and realize the biggest terror threat in this country is white men, most of them radicalized to the right, and we have to start doing something about them." — CNN's Don Lemon 10/30/18
Just to reiterate, St Louis, Missouri where Ferguson is a suburb of, is on the Missouri Side. It is it's own distinct city with a city government separate of the shithole East St. Louis, located on the Illinois Side. Of the two cities I would carry concealed in either but I would never get out of a locked vehicle in East St. Louis. I would never get off the Interstate leading me through East St. Louis. I would not stop for gas in East St. Louis. Just to paint a picture.
Why bother, the only street I would be concerned with in East St. Louis is the interstate. The second you go off the interstate in E. St Louis consider yourself in a scenario that is a cross between Road Warrior and Escape from New York with a little bit of The Purge mixed in for good measure.
