Thread: SpecOps tried rescue mission in Syria

    While I fully believe that secrets are the enemy of democratic representative governance (you cannot have an electorate make intelligent decisions if they do not have all the facts with which to make that decision)....

    This revelation feels political and it feels like a needless release of information. I don't see what military purpose the release of this information serves. Is it supposed to scare ISIS, now that they know who it was that showed up and wrecked their stuff inside a country they thought was beyond the reach of NATO trigger pullers and therefore threaten them and their leadership in Iraq and Syria?

    And clearly ISIS had no idea. If they did, they would be boasting about it all over the internet - about how they got into a firefight with America's best and pushed them back. Remember the snatch-and-grab that went sideways, what, this past winter? The bad guys recovered a couple magazines, some ammo, and a GPS, and sang the praises of their "warriors" defeating the American SEALs sent to do them harm. They think it makes them look tough.
